Decaying Buildings and overgrown fields have replaced the once community driven area. A former sports and social club and home to Norfolk Cricket became an ideal home for the skateboarders of Norwich.
Nicknamed Wimbledon after its Tennis courts, it became a playground for skateboards young and old to create obstacles and perform tricks using various materials found from what seemed an endless scrap store of supplies from the beloved rotting buildings around the courts.
Formally at the heart of the community all four sides of its land shared its perimeter with neighbourhood gardens. Local residents were happy to see that the derelict site had found a new community to support. A petition was drawn up to prevent the land being developed into property and turn it back into an open park suitable for the community. However in the winter of 2014 bulldozers tour its thatched buildings and sports facilities to the ground and now stands a small estate.
